With their striking coloration, ease of care, prolific nature and ability to be kept in groups, this frog a great choice for beginners in the hobby. Costa Rican auratus have a very bright green coloration on a jet black background with a very clean separation between colors. This form of auratus have shown to be more visable than some of the other forms of auratus in the hobby. Males of this species can be identified by their smaller size and enlarged toepads on the front. Females will be larger having a more rounded body shape when mature.
