Dendrobates galactonotus, originally native to northern Brazil, now six recognized morphs populate North American vivariums.

Two black and orange forms look strikingly similar but are separate lines that should be maintained to insure wild form vitality.

• The 75% orange (or splashback) form has uniform pumpkin orange coloration splashed down their backs and legs.
• The 95% orange form is most often a more creamy orange color that covers most all of the frog?s body except upper chest and throat.
• The solid orange form is uniformly colored from golden orange to a deep pumpkin orange. When first imported into the US, these were often confused with the orange P. terribilis.
• The yellow variety D. galactonotus sports a strikingly beautiful bright lemon yellow splash-back and legs.
• The red variety varies from a deep wine to an orange red color within clutch mates.
• The Moonshine galactonotus has a ghostly porcelain color enhanced by their black eyes.

In general the galactonotus are very easy to care for making them an ideal choice for someone just starting in the hobby. Galacs will do well in a group setting with an adequate size vivarium.
